Mission and Outreach:

We seek to do God's will in the world through community outreach and programs of our own, and by facilitating the work of others.

Five Corner Cupboard:

The Five Corner Cupboard was started in 1973 as a mission of our church and is still run today totally by volunteers, from other area churches as well as our own.  Recipients are by referral of East Windsor Human Services and area clergy. The Pantry is open Mondays for donations and stocking from 8:30am-12pm  and every Tuesday from 8:30am-7pm with a 12-1 break for lunch. The pantry is totally supported by donations.

Currently, the pantry serves approximately 350 individuals in an “open shopping model” of distribution where clients may select their own items in a bright, airy, comfortable space.   Our mission is to provide supplemental food and hygiene items to people in need from East Windsor in a loving, compassionate, non discriminatory, non judgmental environment.  We are currently (Oct 2015) serving an average of 125 families (350 individuals) each month, 30% under 18, 50% adults and 20% seniors.

Our partners:

East Windsor Human Services: We work closely with this town department in an effort to ensure no one "falls through the cracks".

Enfield Food Shelf: We are working with EFS to register seniors who qualify, for the Federal Commodity Supplemental Food program, commonly known as "Free Food for Seniors".  A volunteer from EFS comes to the pantry once a month. The food comes pre-boxed with an assortment of non perishable foods and 2lb of cheese.

Foodshare: We participate in the Retail Pickup Program, where we go to Walmart weekly to pick up donations of non perishable food, frozen meats, fresh produce, bakery items and pet food.

EW Scout Pack 89:  Our church has been a sponsor for this group since 1946. For 20 years or more they have been conducting a huge food drive every fall.  We receive enough food to last us several months.

East Windsor Hunger Action Team: Senior pantry staff participates on East Windsor's Hunger Action Team, which not only raises awareness of hunger in our community, but actively seeks opportunities to do something about it.

Pauline's Stockpot Kitchen: We partner with Pauline's which is based at Wesley United Methodist Church. We send them food items too large to be used by our clients and they send the pantry items they receive that they cannot use. Several of our pantry staff also volunteer there 2 or 3 times a month, helping to prepare the meal.
